The King Comments
🏀 Recently, 4x National Basketball Association (NBA) MVP and 4x Champion LeBron James sounded off on NBA media. The topic: Who is the current face of the NBA? James claims that nobody wants the title of "Face of the League" because of the negativity and scrutiny that follows. LeBron has been the face of the NBA for 15+ years now. Recent discussions have been about who takes the throne when LeBron is gone. Names like Anthony Edwards, Victor Wembanyama, and Luka Doncic are among the most popular.
The Media Responds to James
🎥 Some members of the media actually agree with James. Brian Windhorst, a reporter for ESPN, sided with LeBron and said he was right. After a couple of days past, James took to X (twitter) and double downed on his comments. Many other fans have replied or posted their own thoughts, with many agreeing that the recently poor product is contributing to an undefined "Face" of the league.
Why the Media Loves This
🔥 Some of the NBA media FEASTED on LeBron’s comments, especially Stephen A. Smith. Smith tweeted that he would be responding to James’ comments on his show, The First Take, the next day, which built up some anticipation and hype for the release. Stephen A. responded to James’ comments in depth, and the video already has almost 2 million views. More views, as we all know, means more revenue. The media loves LeBron! Besides Smith, pundits across all networks are covering this topic and giving their broadcasters plenty of air time and ad space.
Who do you think will be the next "Face of the NBA," if anyone?
